Saudi Premium Residency lets a non-Saudi resident live and work in the Kingdom without a sponsor, together with a set of investment and commercial rights that ordinary residency does not grant. This guide covers the available tracks, the general eligibility conditions, the application steps, and the mistakes that delay a file.
What it gives you
Rights vary by track and by the type of residency, but generally it allows:
- Living in the Kingdom without a sponsor, and sponsoring family members under the published rules.
- Doing business, investing and owning property inside the Kingdom within what the regulations permit.
- Entering and leaving the Kingdom without a separate visa for each trip.
- Including family members in the application under the prescribed conditions.
The main tracks
The Saudi Premium Residency Center has expanded the categories to cover several tracks, notably:
- Permanent residency — a one-time fee.
- Limited-duration residency — renewed annually against an annual fee.
- Investor track — for those investing in an existing or new activity in the Kingdom.
- Entrepreneur track — for founders of start-ups with approved funding.
- Special talent track — for specialists in defined fields, with an employment contract, qualifications and experience.
- Property ownership track — for owners of property in the Kingdom under the published conditions.
Fees and thresholds for each track change by decision of the Center, so confirm the conditions in force at the time you apply.
General eligibility
- A valid passport.
- A clean criminal record inside and outside the Kingdom.
- A medical report confirming freedom from infectious diseases.
- Proof of financial standing or source of income suited to the chosen track.
- Being at least 21 years old.
The application in practice
- Choose the right track. The wrong track is the single most common reason for rejection or delay.
- Prepare the file. Personal and financial documents, translated and attested where they originate outside the Kingdom.
- File the application through the Premium Residency Center’s platform.
- Review. Additional documents or clarifications may be requested at this stage.
- Payment and issuance after approval, then updating your records and linking them to your employment or investment.
Common mistakes that delay a file
- Financial documents that do not cover the required period, or lack certified translation.
- Inconsistent spelling of the name between the passport and official documents.
- Applying on a track whose conditions do not actually fit the applicant.
- Overlooking the effect of Premium Residency on an existing commercial activity.
